Dermal fillers are a widely popular cosmetic procedure that involves a gel-like substance being injected beneath the skin. They are used to restore volume into different areas of the face, such as the cheeks, mouth and lips. As well as restoring volume, dermal fillers can smooth out lines and soften any creases in the skin or augment your features, helping you to enhance your facial contours while achieving a youthful look.
The key uses of dermal fillers treatments in the face are:
Lifting and filling in wrinkles
Smoothing out deep lines and folds
Volumising and lifting the face to replace lost facial volume
Augmenting and enhancing the shape of cheeks
Defining, shaping and plumping the lips
Improving skin quality and texture in thinning or scarred skin
How dermal fillers work depends on the type of dermal filler used and where it is injected. In general, injecting dermal fillers into the skin causes plumping of that area which helps smooth wrinkles, enhance definition and volumize the face depending on the type of filler and technique used to inject it.
The most common type of dermal filler used on the face is hyaluronic acid. These are colourless gels that are made up of synthetic hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring substance in the skin) and are temporary, usually lasting between 6 and 12 months. Longevity depends on the area being treated, the mobility/movement in that area and the viscosity(thickness) of the filler used.
Hyaluronic acid is also great for hydrating the skin and lips as it attracts water to the area, resulting in improved appearance and hydrated skin quality.
The effects of dermal fillers are seen immediately; however, it can take up to two weeks to see the optimum result.
Recovery time is minimal although it is extremely common to experience swelling and possible bruising after treatment. This is especially true when treating the lips and patients should be prepared for these side effects which usually resolve within 5-7 days.

Microdermabrasion
A minimally invasive treatment used to improve the overall texture and tone of the skin by gently removing the top layer of old, dead skin cells. As well as a general effect, the treatment is also used to aid the improvement of fine lines and wrinkles, minor scaring, blemishes, sun damage and age spots when used as a regular treatment. With little to no downtime, skin will appear more radiant with a much improved texture.
Microdermabrasion will also remove facial hair along with old skin cells, leaving a perfect base for makeup application. The skin will be able to absorb products much more readily, improving the effects of the clients own skincare routine.
Micro needling
Micro-needling is an advanced cosmetic technique using extremely fine needles to achieve long term, natural results. The procedure stimulates the skin to repair and regenerate itself naturally, resulting in a brighter, healthier, more youthful appearance. The skin is encouraged to increase cell renewal, and collagen production. Slight reddening of the skin may occur immediately after treatment, this will subside extremely quickly. Treatments are usually advised as a course, with 4 weeks between visits to optimise results.
Meso therapy
A combination of plant extracts, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and hyularonic acid are introduced into the middle(meso) layers of the skin using microscopic injections. This allows the active ingredients to penetrate far deeper than creams and products are able. These active ingredients encourage the skin cells to work at their optimum level and therefore be able to limit the effects of ageing. Skin appears firmer, with a plumping effect.
Treatment is tailored to the specific concerns of the individual client. Concentrating on specific areas allows for the improvement of fine lines and wrinkles, whilst a range of solutions are designed to improve scaring, blemishes and sun damage.
Mesotherapy is comfortable for the client with little to no downtime, optimum results are achieved over a long term course of treatment followed by regular maintenance once the desired result has been achieved.
Derma planing
A form of exfoliation used to remove up to 6 weeks of old skin cells and facial hair, to achieve a smoother, brighter appearance with an even tone. By removing the old cells, the clients skin care routine becomes much more effective by allowing greater absorbency of products. Fine lines and wrinkles, acne scaring and sun damage will also be improved.
Used as a one time treatment for almost immediate aesthetic effects or as a long term course for improving scaring and signs of ageing.
Deluxe facial
An indulgent facial treatment that includes an advanced brush cleanse and exfoliation, bespoke mask and extended facial massage. Skin will appear refreshed, and tone will be improved with a healthy radiant glow.
Regular facial treatments will encourage cell renewal, improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce the effects of ageing.
Cosmetic skin peel
Cosmetic peel treatment is a form of exfoliation to remove the old, dead skin cells to reveal the smoother, healthier more radiant skin beneath, using a light to medium strength peel solution.
This treatment will stimulate cell renewal to rejuvenate skin condition, and treat a variety of conditions including:
Fine lines and wrinkles
Sun damage and hyper pigmentation
Clogged pores and dull complexion
Age spots and uneven skin tone
Mild acne
Cosmetic peels are extremely effective but much less irritating to the skin than deeper, medical grade peels, with minimal to no downtime or 'peeling' skin after treatment. Optimum results are achieved by having regular treatments, however a visibly improved appearance can be achieved after a single peel. This treatment is wonderful for an instant result!
Carboxytherapy treatment
By infusing carbon dioxide into the skin, an acidic environment develops. This signals our body to secure oxygen to the tissue in the treated region and accumulate natural growth factors . Within several days after the treatment there is an increased natural distribution of oxygen in the places of application, a completely new microcirculation is created, lymphoid drainage is increased and in this way skin regeneration is achieved in a natural way.
During the treatment, a Carboxytherapy Gel is applied to the face in an even layer. A Carboxytherapy Activator Face Mask is then pressed firmly onto the gel. The interface produces a specific amount of carbon dioxide, which is infused into the skin.
During the treatment you may feel a slight tingling and the treated area can become mildly red due to a sudden deposit of oxygen. Within 5 minutes after treatment, the carbon dioxide applied to the skin is completely replaced by oxygen. You can go back to your usual activities after treatment and no recovery period is required.
About Us
After 25 years working as a dental nurse, practice and area manager, including 12 years as business development manager for the award winning Imogen Dental, Laura was ready to embark on a new path in her career. She returned to college to study anatomy and physiology, facial aesthetics and holistic therapies.
When Laura qualified from Champney's International beauty college in May 2018, she gained distinctions in all aspects of her training and was honoured to be awarded student of the year!
Following her college training Laura went on to gain qualifications in advanced aesthetic techniques and skin care.
Laura now returns to Imogen dental as the Advanced Skin care therapist and will offer treatments that will be entirely bespoke to each client, aiming to promote healthy skin and self confidence.

Facial Aesthetics
A free consultation is available to discuss treatment options, client goals, an estimate of fees and suitability for treatment. A consultation is ALWAYS required for clients new to anti-wrinkle injections. Once an appointment is made for an injectable treatment, a £50 deposit is payable which is fully redeemable against treatment.
